Antique Lamberton Works Pinecones Oval Serving Platter
I am pleased to offer for your consideration an antique Maddock, USA hotelware serving platter that I believe is from the vitrified Lamberton Line. Free of chips, cracks and repairs, this substantial weight oval serving piece measures approximately 10-1/4" x 7-1/8" and has rich coloring on its border of brown pinecones on blue-green evergreen branches complemented with an outer blue-green color band. Portion where food would rest has age-appropriate utensil marks for commercial dinnerware 100+ years old that was most likely used on a regular, if not daily, basis. Truly charming piece!
Stamped with the transfer printed mark identifying this piece as produced in the 1890's - ca. 1911 timeframe. Also stamped MADE EXPRESSLY for (? I have been unable to decipher who this particular piece was made for)
Interesting background: Maddock Pottery Company was a custom china manufacturer and nearly always decorated china to order. Customers included railroads, ship lines, the U.S. Department of Interior and many hotels, restaurants and clubs.
